SmartLife project aims to create a mobile game that requires lower body movement, personalized by physiological feedback measured by smart textiles. The aim is to improve current exergames to achieve a higher level of physical activity, needed to create health impact, taking in concern what is achievable for each person reducing drop-out and injury risks. 

KnowledgeBiz undertook project coordination, lead the elicitation of the technical requirements and specification of the conceptual architecture, the deployment of the game data analytics component and is also involved in the dissemination activities of the project.

The goal of vf-OS project is to develop an Open Operating System for Virtual Factories for the Factory of the Future. It encloses a virtual factory Platform that aims to be an economical multi-sided market platform that enables interactions between different types of actors.

KnowledgeBiz role is related with the definition of Business Models for future project exploitation, dissemination of activities and development of enablers specific to vf-OS environment that are FIWARE compatible. 

Smart4Health will enable the citizen-centred EU-EHR exchange for personalised health. This will pave the way for the full deployment of citizen-centred solutions and services in a digital single market for well-being and healthcare. It will provide for interoperability, complementarity and cooperativity with profiles that are currently used e.g. by Member States, regions.

Smart4Health will enable the bridging between the diverse EU-EHR data and citizen-generated health data. It will connect citizens to science and personalised health services.

The project ISOFIN Cloud takes as a principal objective the development of a platform that speeds the development and deployment of services to be sold to clients and users of the financial domain. The project developed an ontology and cloud-based web-services infrastructure to the insurance and banking sectors.

KnowledgeBiz involvement was related with the development of the ontology and the design and development of interoperability-related web services for heterogeneous applications.

QualiChain develops a decentralised platform for storing, sharing and verifying education and employment qualifications and focuses on the assessment of the potential of blockchain technology, algorithmic techniques and artificial intelligence for disrupting the domain of public education, as well as its interfaces with private education, the labour market, public sector administrative procedures and the wider socio-economic developments.

The project focuses more specifically on the assessment of the implications (technical, political, socio-economic, legal and cultural) as well as the impact – in terms of benefits and risks – of the prescribed solution’s utilisation, whose disruptive potential lies both in the exploitation of the innovative features of the aforementioned individual technologies, as well as in their unique combination in a new territory for the provision of a set of baseline services (Awards’/ Qualifications’ Archiving; Awards’/ Qualifications’ Verification; Qualifications’ Portfolio Management) and a number of value-adding services (Career Counselling and Intelligent Profiling and Competency Management including Recruitment; Competencies’ Evaluation and Development; Consulting and Decision Support).

The initiative for Fostering DIHs for Embedding Interoperability in Cyber-Physical Systems of European SMEs (DIH4CPS) will help European enterprises overcome the innovation hurdles and establish Europe as a world leading innovator of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. DIH4CPS will create an embracing, interdisciplinary network of DIHs and solution providers, focussed on cyber-physical and embedded systems, interweaving knowledge and technologies from different domains, and connecting regional clusters with the pan-European expert pool of DIHs.

KBZ is the technology provider in the Application Experiment related with safety and wellbeing of workers. The being developed is based on agreements with the worker so that he can maintain the fitness and wellbeing with a monitoring strategy that can inform him about his health status while providing guidance for a better life and adjustment to his specific health condition. The objective in such interventions is to maintain supportive actions towards the workers, especially those with some age, that while being less young, maintain, however a high value creation potential. The monitoring of bodily variables, especially in old workers, becomes of most value to provide the proper maintenance of health and lifestyle thus ensuring a cooperation that keeps them going for longer time as a value for themselves and for the society.

Despite the indisputable benefits that Artificial Intelligence (AI) can bring in society and in any industrial activity, humans typically have little insight about AI itself and even less concerning the knowledge on how AI systems make any decisions or predictions due to the so-called “black-box effect”. Many of the machine learning/deep learning algorithms are opaque and not possible to be examined after their execution to understand how and why a decision has been made. In this context, to increase trust in AI systems, XMANAI aims at rendering humans (especially business experts from the manufacturing domain) capable of fully understanding how decisions have been reached and what has influenced them. 

Building on the latest AI advancements and technological breakthroughs, XMANAI shall focus its research activities on Explainable AI (XAI) in order to make the AI models, step-by-step understandable and actionable at multiple layers (data-model-results).   

XMANAI aims to design, develop and deploy a novel Explainable AI Platform powered by explainable AI models that inspire trust, augment human cognition and solve concrete manufacturing problems with value-based explanations. Adopting the mentality that “AI systems should think like humans, act like humans, think rationally, and act rationally”,

Knowledgebiz is part of a new project which aims to stimulate user-led design in the development of ICT-based Alzheimer care solutions. The Co-Care project is co-funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus + Knowledge alliance programme which makes it possible for organisations from different countries to work together, to develop, share and transfer best practices and innovative approaches in the fields of education, training and youth. Thanks to this support from the EU, CO-Care counts experts from around Europe amongst its partnership.

The Co-Care project brings together universities, ICT professionals, the health and social care sector and most importantly users to improve teaching and learning approaches and foster entrepreneurship in the ICT and health and social sector. The objective is that this approach be used in the design of ICT solutions to facilitate the daily life of informal caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s. To improve the quality of the care they provide, give them a chance to network and help them to stay healthy.
